ROCK FEST

This event has always been a hugely positive experience for both the students and the school community. It aims to foster skill development in music and provide students with a real life "live performance" opportunity, as well as the chance to see other student bands play too.

OLD IS GOLD

"Music is the food for the soul and Indian music, in particular, has a special soothing effect on the tired nerves of the humans."

Old is Gold is a soulful event organised annually by GDGPS, Siliguri. The audience witnessed an evening of enchanted performances reminiscing the golden bygone days. The students enthralled the audience with a melange of immortal songs and dances from old Hindi movies.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Strive to find your own voice... for the longer you wait the more likely it is that you won’t! One of the most pertinent expression of the self is through a leadership opportunity when one's inimitable way of conceiving and construction is expressed through various challenging situations. Empowering young persons and giving them a chance to lead, prepares them to face real life in the future. However the Pupil Leadership Programme is not a mere simulation, rather student leaders are given a space in the functioning of the School and their opinions are more than considered while formulating School policies. It is our firm conviction that the School is after all for the children and without keeping their needs in mind our efforts cannot be all-encompassing.

The Students' School Council is formed at all levels of the School from Pre-Primary to Sr. Secondary and student leaders are designated at every vertical of educational administration from Academics to Transport to IT. From Learning the science of decision making to team building the Pupil Leadership Programme puts the learner at the helm of things while at the same time developing a sense of self in the students.

 

FAREWELL DAY FOR STD-XII

In every end there lies a beginning, and rooting and uprooting is the saga of human existence... the Farewell Ceremony for the Graduating Classes of STD-XII is a tapestry woven out of happy and sad instances. Amongst Parents and Teachers the young Graduates of GDGPS remember, with fondness, gratitude and nostalgia, the days of their school life, now ending. The ceremony, with its lovely blend of formal and personal, will perhaps be remembered for many years by those who attend it. Our boys and girls, impeccably turned out in tuxedos and silk and chiffon, personify grace and class and to see them looking so poised to step out into the world makes one feel both proud and, perhaps, a trifle sad.

In a moment of soul-ache we let go of them as they face their new worlds, worlds full of peeves and pleasure and we pray for the sun to be always on their backs as they walk the meandering paths of life. An Education that has empathy and service as it's corner-stones, will stand them in good stead in the days to come.

BLESSINGS DAY FOR STD-X

In an environment made alive with mixed emotions of hope, excitement, nostalgia and anticipation, the Blessings Ceremony invokes the Grace of the Almighty upon our examinees at the Std-X Board Examinations. Something that has become another inalienable part of the Goenkan Culture through the years, the Ceremony entails the traditional passing of the flame which is a metaphor for the perpetuation of the Goenkan spirit.

A felicitation ceremony was organised for the students of STD-X & STD-XII who had brought laurels to the school with their excellent performance in the CBSE Board Exams.

The Scholastic & Co-Scholastic Awards recogoize academic excellence and achievement in sports and culture. These Awards benchmark standards in scholastic and co-scholastic verticals while at the same time raising the bar for each incoming batch. The awards are decided on a strict criteria based on a continuous system of evaluation and on objective parameters. Like all recognitions, these awards incentivize growth, promote healthy competition and hone skill and talent.

VISIT OF SOURAV GANGULY

On 16th December of 2017, one of the finest captains in the history of the game of cricket, the legendary batsman Saurav Ganguly, visited the School marking one operational year of the Sourav Ganguly School Cricket Set-Up and to present its Academy Profile. One of the most successful of India's Test Captains Mr Ganguly, also delivered an inspiring speech addressing the trainees and Parents in the School Auditorium where he was able to connect equally with young and old alike as he espoused the immense validity that sports and games have in our lives. At the net- practice and the mentoring of the students of the Academy later that afternoon, Mr Ganguly spent quality hours with the trainees, sharing technical nuances that would go a long way in turning aspiring cricketers to professional sportsmen. The School has re-opened registrations to the School Cricket Set-up on the request of parents as the presence of Mr Ganguly reaffirmed the School's intention to provide serious, sustainable and focused training in professional cricket.
