ANNUAL PARENTS' DAY CELEBRATION: NIRBHIKTA – Where the Mind is without Fear

This year the students of G. D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri celebrated the Power of Fearlessness through the Annual Day celebration ‘NIRBHIKTA’ on March 18, 2023, in the school premises.

The theme, “NIRBHIKTA” was derived from our school prayer ‘Where the mind is without fear” written by Gurudev Rabindranath. It has been the school's endeavour to teach fearlessness to our students and create a fearless learning environment.

Our students presented an array of performances which started with the humble hearts praying to God to guide us from ignorance to knowledge and to help us let go of our own ignorance that blocks our vision and precludes us from seeing the ultimate truth; through the song “Asatoma Sadgamaya”, which was followed by the orchestra playing a symphony of strings and songs that drifted through the air bringing a smile on the faces of each one in the audience.

The Yoga Performance- The Awakening, created an ambience of serenity and enthralled the audience as the children formed various yoga poses.

The students dressed in colourful attires dazzled on the stage showcasing the cultural glory of our nation through breathtakingly beautifully choreographed Classical and Cultural Dance Forms – Caleidscope and Rhythmic steps.

Our young Goenkans set the stage on fire as the Royal Squad and Fearless Warriors and left the audience in awe with their Hip-Hop, Contemporary and Free Style Dance moves. The also paid ode to our brave hearts, our Indian Army. 

The students also recited the poem “Where the Mind is without Fear” followed by a short skit which passed on messages of fearlessness and bravery.

The school ensured a hundred percent participation from the students giving each child an opportunity to harness their skills and showcase their talents through such public performances.

The highlight of the day was when the NCC proudly marched and presented the audience with a perfectly synchronized performance, the Goenkan Jets proudly unfurled the school flag high, the Karate Squad showed some techniques on self-defense and the Basketball Team dribbled their way on stage followed by the felicitation of the achievers in various Co-scholastic and Scholastic fields. It was indeed a proud moment for each member of the Goenkan Family.

The celebration ended with a Vote of Thanks by the Director Principal acknowledging the efforts of the parents for their collaboration and support in all the endeavors of the school followed by the National Anthem as a tribute to our Nation.

The Annual Day was truly a celebration of learning and fearlessness where children confidently enthralled the audience by exhibiting their talent through their performances.
