The 5^th edition of Goenkan MUN was conducted on the 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th of December at G.D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri and became “The Biggest Model United Nations in North Bengal”.

The Goenkan Model United Nations empowers students to showcase their immense talent and engage in dynamic dialogue. The conference hopes to create a paradigm shift in the way that Model United Nations conferences are run.

The event commenced with the opening ceremony welcoming the delegates and faculty advisors from educational institutions all over Siliguri. Our Director Principal Ms Sonika Sharma, and Hon’ble Chief Guest Mr Amrendra Pandey blessed the ceremony with their presence and inspiring words.

The GMUN saw a participation of more than 600 delegates from schools across Siliguri. Among the participating institutions were Inspiria Knowledge Campus, Don Bosco School (Siliguri), Delhi Public School (Siliguri), Delhi Public School (Fulbari) and St. Joesph’s School (Bhaktinagar).

All of the 9 committees were filled to the brim with passionate delegates, ready to test their diplomacy skills. The committees ECOSOC, UNSC, UNCSW, UNHRC, AIPPM, UNGA-DISEC, UNGA-SPECPOL, OIC and International Press were thriving with energy and enthusiasm.

The first day saw steady paced arguments from and among the delegates. The CMOs and faculty advisors from G.D. Goenka Public School, worked in every committee and toiled throughout the day to guarantee the smooth functioning of each and every committee. The photographers, journalists and caricature artists played an integral role to document every second in each committee. After a whole day’s work of representing their country on the global podium, the delegates socialized and relaxed during the evening band performance.

The second day saw a gradual improvement in the debating and diplomacy skills of each and every delegate. From the class VIII participants to sophomore college students, each and every delegate put forth their best arguments in each session. Through great wisdom and perseverance, 8 committees produced wonderful resolutions on the third day.

The day ended with a closing ceremony in the presence of our Chairman Mr Sanjay Bansal, Director Principal Ms Sonika Sharma and the Chief Guest Hon’ble Sailesh Singhal who is the Founder, Youth of India Foundation (Special Accreditation by United Nations) Each and every delegate was awarded and appreciated for their participation in the Goenkan MUN.

The Goenkan MUN truly set an example on sustainability, world political awareness and diplomacy. We would like to congratulate everyone who has been a part of GMUN 2022!
