CBSE FAR EAST ZONE YOGASANA CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

In anticipation of the Far East Zone Yoga Championship at G D Goenka Public School, Siliguri, a flurry of activity marked the eve of the mega event. A pivotal meeting was convened at 6:00 pm on 12th October, 2023, bringing together all coaches and managers of the Far East Zones. This meeting served as a platform to discuss strategies, align goals, and ensure that the participants were well-prepared to exhibit their skills on the grand stage of the Far East Zone Yoga Championship.
13th October 2023 – The prestigious CBSE Far East Zone Yoga Championship 2023 commenced with ideal weather conditions and robust participation, setting the stage for an extraordinary showcase of talent. Participants from diverse Far East Zone states, including Assam (17), Chhattisgarh (1), Odisha (8), Tripura (4), and West Bengal (25), had gathered in Siliguri, where they were accommodated at various locations to ensure their comfort and convenience. There were a total of 214 participants from 55 schools.
The grand Opening Ceremony took place on the sprawling grounds of G D Goenka Public School, and it was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries. Dr. S. S. Agarwal - PRESIDENT-NORTH BENGAL SAHODAYA SCHOOL COMPLEX presided as the Chief Guest, and in the august presence of Dr. Ajay Kumar Shastri, President of the State Yoga and Sports Association, Delhi, and CBSE OBSERVER. Alongside them, a distinguished panel of guests added to the event's grandeur: Mrs. Taposhi Pal Banik - SECRETARY-NORTH BENGAL SAHODAYA SCHOOL COMPLEX and Mrs. Mantu Ghosh - FORMER INDIAN TABLE TENNIS PLAYER (ARJUNA AWARDEE & BANGA BHUSAN AWARDEE).
The event commenced with Director Principal Mam extending a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and the distinguished guests, delivering an inspiring address that resonated with the entire audience. Miss Pooja Roy from the host school, administered the Oath, emphasizing the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship and the Chief Guest declared the event open.
14th October 2023 – The CBSE Far East Zone Yoga Championship 2023 entered its second day, maintaining its momentum across three dedicated venues. In the evening the auditorium echoed live music and dance performances by the participating schools during the Happy Assembly. Every school represented their culture through dancing, yoga demonstrations and singing.
The culmination of the championship was marked by the grand Prize Distribution ceremony on the 15th of October 2023, in the auditorium. The event showcased the remarkable achievement of the students and the spirit of healthy competition that had characterized the entire tournament.
The Chief Guest for the Prize Distribution, DR JAIDEEP ARYA, SECRETARY GENERAL-YOGASANA BHARAT, affiliated to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, affiliated to AYUSH, recognized by SAI, an associate member of the Indian Olympic Association, Chairman of Haryana Yog Aayog (Government of Haryana), Member of SAI (Ministry of Sports, Government of India), International Coordinator at Patanjali Yog Peeth, graced the occasion with his esteemed presence.
CBSE medals and trophies were presented to the deserving winners, celebrating their exceptional achievements in the field of yoga. During the ceremony, DR JAIDEEP ARYA, the Chief Guest, expressed his enthusiasm for the event and encouraged the participating students to set their sights on a monumental objective – hosting the Summer Olympics in 2036 in India and introducing yoga as a 20-gold medal event.
The atmosphere was further enriched by the melodious strains of the Yoga anthem, and the program reached its conclusion with the playing of the National Anthem, filling the auditorium with patriotic fervour. The event ended on a high note leaving all participating schools satisfied and with an enriching experience.
