Ushering in a New Chapter: Orientation Programme for Class XI at G.D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri

On 19th April 2025, the vibrant Manthan Auditorium of G.D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri, buzzed with anticipation and energy as it played host to the much-awaited Orientation Programme for Class XI. Designed with precision and care, the event aimed at ensuring a seamless transition for students and parents stepping into the senior secondary stage of academic life.

With over 109 pupils in attendance and among them 96 day scholars across Science (48), Commerce (27), and Humanities (21), and 13 boarders (7 boys and 6 girls)—the programme set the tone for a transformative academic journey.

A Thoughtful Beginning

The day commenced with meticulous registration, followed by a warm welcome that set an inspiring tone for what lay ahead. A soulful prayer brought a collective sense of calm and focus, marking the beginning of an enlightening session. Senior faculty members including Mr. A.K. Saha (Head of Academics), Ms. Pratima (Vice Principal), and Mr. Sajid (HOD, English), alongside senior secondary leaders Suman Ma’am, Anirban Sir, Arup Sir, and other esteemed teachers, graced the dais with their insights and presence.

The Road Ahead

The primary educational objective of the orientation was to introduce the new batch to the academic environment, school values, curriculum structure, and the policies that govern this pivotal phase. The school emphasized on subject choices, assessment frameworks, and the students’ expectations so that both teachers, students and school community work as a family.

Interactive sessions with HODs and faculty leaders provided parents and students with clarity on the diverse academic paths, reinforcing the school’s commitment to collaborative education and individual growth. Boarding students also had a dedicated interaction with house parents, ensuring they felt welcomed and emotionally anchored as they embarked on this new journey.
