On 14th September 2013, the swimmers’ team of G.D.Goenka Public School, Siliguri participated in the Sikkim State swimming Competition organised by Sikkim Amateur Swimming Association at Tashi Namgyal Academy, Gangtok. 11 Goenkan Students participated in the competition in different categories against Vimvalley School, Nimtar got. School, Tashi namgyal Academy, Holy cross School & members of S.A.S.A. ( Sikkim Amateur Swimming Association ). Our Student Tija Agarwal of Class VII bagged the Gold medal in the Freestyle swimming event, under 14 category. Another Goenkan Deepjong Sherpa of class IX after giving a tough competition managed to win the Bronze Medal in the Backstroke Swimming Event. The students of our school competed against the very highly ranked national level smimmers and bagged the second position in the competition.
