The First North Bengal Sahodaya School Complex Siliguri (NBSSCS) Teachers’ Camp was organised at G.D.Goenka Public School, Siliguri (GDGPS) on 3rd September, 2013. The program was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Dr.S.S.Agarwal, President, NBSSCS, the Principal, Siliguri Model Sr. Sec. School. In the opening speech, Mrs. Sonika Sharma, Secretary, NBSSCS, the Principal, G.D.Goenka Public School, Siliguri welcomed all the participant principals and teachers and declared the camp’s usefulness to exchange experiences and discuss ideas that can be done to strengthen the vision of building global students in the schools. Additionally, through a short power point presentation, she emphasised the role of a teacher in a student’s life and the importance of introspection in a teacher’s life in order to be a better teacher each day. A short cultural program was executed by the teachers and students of GDGPS followed by an inspirational address by Dr. Agarwal, where he reiterated the significance of such togetherness of all the CBSE schools in the area, to promote better teaching and learning environment to the fellow students. He also addressed the need of continuous updating of knowledge on the teachers’ part. The participant teachers from the 13 schools, thoroughly enjoyed activities related to music, art and culture.
The camp ended with presenting trophies and mementoes to the participating teachers and reviewing the experiences gathered. Mrs. Sonika Sharma heartily thanked all the participating school principals and teachers for coming together and creating such a platform for “sharing and caring”.
