INFRASTRUCTURE

Students at G.D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri have state of the art knowledge support infrastructure to help them. These include a fully accessible library with books, periodicals, cd-roms and supervised internet access. The entire school building is centrally air-conditioned. The senior classrooms will have electronic boards. All class rooms have laptop ports. There will be state of the art audio-visual rooms with lcd projectors and plasma screens.

 

BOARDING

Our motto is to provide comfortable hygienic and proper stay of a student in the School Hostel. We intend that the ward, who is studying in the best academic school, should stay in a healthy, caring environment with a progressive atmosphere. The hostel is open to students from class II onwards. It is centrally air-conditioned with separate girls and boys’ hostel, and rooms housing 2 to 4 students with attached bathrooms. Trained and experienced teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for the students. The school counselor interacts with every student and is available for their psycological or biological problems, if any and inturn inform the Housemaster/Housemistress about the same. They care to share the daily needs by inspecting the rooms regularly, the availability of toileteries, the cleanliness of the rooms, the condition of the clothes, the diet and food taken by each student.  Hostel residents are provided extra coaching and have a greater opportunity to develop all round skills.Special care is taken for the slow learners by having remedial classes.

 

LIBRARY

The school has a well stocked library with a wide collection of books and CDs on a variety of subjects. Students are encouraged to make maximum use of the library for their reference and projects and co-curricular activities.

 

INFIRMARY

A 2 bed infirmary is available for medical attention at all times. The school also owns a fully equipped ambulance for any emergencies that may occur.

 

TRANSPORT

The school owns a fleet of deluxe air conditioned buses. All buses are fitted with the latest and most efficient communication facilities. In case of any delay or mishap, a message will be flashed to the school which informs the parents and sends a relief bus immediately.

 

SWIMMING

There is special emphasis on swimming. A swimming pool and a splash pool for the young learners with filtration plants are available for students to learn swimming. A lady and a gents swimming coach along with life guards moving around the pool make swimming a very safe learning.

 

TOY ROOM

Children are given the best opportunities to develop their potentials outside classroom curriculum. A place well stocked with educational play systems, toys and games is provided to help the children develop their motor skills and muscular development.

 

SECURITY

The school is well guarded round-the-clock by security guards not only at the entry gate but also over the entire campus. Security guards are also provided by the school whenever students go out on excursions, etc.

 

CAFETERIA

The school has a hygienic, air-conditioned cafeteria, managed by caterers who provide nourishing, wholesome lunch, snacks and drinks in the most hygienic conditions. Mineral water is served for drinking purposes through a large number of water dispensers placed at convenient locations all over the campus.

 

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Academics apart, different clubs have been set up for children to explore their creativity. This involves Nature, Quiz and Creative Guild, Literary, Computer, Maths clubs under the tutelage of teachers sharing knowledge in a friendly atmosphere.

 

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Air conditioned classrooms, laboratories and activity rooms etc. are designed for greater efficiency, and to protect children of tender ages from air and noise pollution. It also provides our wards an environment equal to the best anywhere in the world. An optimum teacher-student ratio will ensure individual attention to the pupils. Our pupils are encouraged and guided to develop their analytical and problem solving skills. Special tutorial/remedical teaching both during and after school hours will be arranged according to the need for each child.
